Hello from Colorado Springs! When I wrote my last letter, I was home support raising, but I’m happy to say I’ve moved to Colorado Springs now! My short 7 weeks at home this summer flew by way faster than I thought it would. I did my best to soak up some time with my family, went on a few trips with them, and enjoyed the day-to-day at home. Obviously, my primary focus for being home in this season was support raising, which I’m happy to say has been going well. I’m so grateful to each and every one of you who have supported me through prayer or finances so far! I truly couldn’t have moved down here without you!

So on August 19th, I packed up my stuff, and I headed down to the Springs. However, I was only here for a few hours, enough to drop off my stuff, and then we were on to Chico, California. Our group of 9 staff for the fall school decided to drive to make it more affordable for everyone, the only problem was the 21.5-hour one-way drive that stood in our way to get there. We drove straight through the night, which took its physical toll on me, but we made it. I tried to stay positive and look at it as good bonding for me and my team. So after a long day and night of driving, we made it to Chico!

The purpose of us going to Chico was to attend a Discipleship Training School Foundational Workshop. Basically, it was 12 YWAM bases gathering together in one location to share what works well and get on the same page as an organization for our upcoming DTS’s. I really learned so much from this conference, felt way more prepared to lead, and got very excited for what is to come. There was a level of feeling overwhelmed with the amount of content we consumed in a week, but I’m praying I’ll be able to call on this training when I need it in the future.

It’s tough to summarize everything I learned that week, but really I feel like God is teaching me so much about leadership. It’s funny how I’ve been in leadership roles before, but there’s something about being in a ministry leadership role that is totally different. In my previous experience, leadership has been a lot more about proving yourself, may the best man win, and being in control from there. God is really challenging me to be a leader who loves to serve, is nothing but humble, and looks out for others above myself. Of course, I still have a long way to go in my leadership skills, but I’m grateful to be learning what I am, and I’m excited for my chance to lead this fall.

While this conference was a lot of learning, there was also a lot of fun and a ton of community. I realized how blessed I am to come from a bigger YWAM base with more of a community. A lot of the guys we talked to came from smaller bases where there is really no one else for them to hang out with. As a result, they really grabbed onto us this week and enjoyed hanging out with us. We had some playful games of basketball, won a volleyball tournament, and did some other challenges. We got to do a cool hike up to a waterfall and swam a lot in the pool. I had a blast hanging out with those guys.

After a week in Chico, it was time for us to go home, and we were definitely ready to go back to our base in Colorado Springs. This last week I spent getting my room set up, tying some loose ends in support raising, and starting staff training. This week we will have new staff orientation all week and then next week our students arrive. I’m so excited for the students to show up on September 14th. We’ve been praying, planning, and preparing for months now.

With that said, that’s all I have for this newsletter. In the future, I hope to build out this newsletter a little more to include different sections and have some sort of structure to it. For now, these are just my raw thoughts as I reflect on the last month or so. My goal going forward will be to send newsletters every month or so, understanding that there may be some times when I’m a few weeks late, as I get busier. Whenever it is, I look forward to the next newsletter I get to write. By that time, the students will have arrived, and I will be well into my first DTS I’m staffing.

Again, I can’t express my gratitude to all of you enough. It touches my heart to know that you all are so generous and willing to give. I recognize the sacrifice that you are making with what you could be spending your money on, yet your faithfulness to the Lord is inspiring. I’m in awe at how God can provide and continues to do so for me daily.

If you would like to contact me for any reason, I would love to talk to you. Please see my contact information:
