Dear Supporters,
Hello from America once again! Last night I arrived back in Montana after spending the last 2 months in the Himalayas. It feels so good to be back, especially after the amount of travel we went through this last week, but I can already tell I will miss it.
This last month was action-packed, with lots of updates, so let’s get into it! Week 5 of outreach we spent in the furthest west district of the country we traveled to. It took us just short of 50 hours of jeep and bus rides to make it out this far from the capital city. Once we arrived, we met up with our contact and began partnering with him. We stayed at a local YWAM base, where we did quite a few projects, and helped around the house. We did some prayer walks to various Hindu/Buddhist worship sites throughout the week. On the weekend, we ran another kids camp, except this time we saw a salvation!
This was a very cool opportunity we had to get to have full control of the entire camp, so we spent some time praying about what we should focus on. We felt like the Lord wanted us to talk about the abundant life that awaits when you bring Jesus into your life, so Life Abundant Camp was formed. The camp itself was only 2 days, but it was jam-packed with worship, games, and teachings. Our whole team taught and I got the opportunity to do the closing situation to tie it all together. I talked about the invitation that Jesus is extending to us to live life with him. At the end, we did an altar call of sorts, where 3 kids responded, and 1 hadn’t accepted Jesus yet. I personally got the chance to walk this girl through the salvation prayer with the help of a translator. This was the coolest experience ever that brought tears to my eyes. The whole time we were asking ourselves how far we would go to see one salvation, but didn’t truly know how far we would have to go, until we made it to the furthest west district and saw it happen!
At this point, I would’ve been content if our outreach ended right then and there. But, the crazy thing was that we still had several weeks to go, of which we spent 2 weeks trekking. Trekking was quite the adventure. It’s hard to encapsulate such an experience with such few words, but I’ll do my best. We ended up trekking to the largest fresh water lake in the region, which happened to be a national park. While the route was hard, the journey we had was so rewarding. Along the way, we passed out 500+ Gospel tracts and we stopped for various ministry opportunities. We got to share the Gospel openly, pray for people, and we even saw 5 healings!
Once we arrived at the lake, we went to a nearby lookout point, and there I was met with the best view of my life. We were planning on spending a few days at the lake, but for logistical reasons, we had to leave early. The trek out from the lake was way harder than the way in and we found ourselves really having to push to get out on time. While our outward ministry was pretty much over at this point, the internal ministry had really just begun. Having to push your physical body and mind to the limit was really hard on people. However, it was this challenge that led to so much growth, and even spiritual and mental breakthrough for people. Thankfully, we made it out on time, and everyone stayed healthy for the most part. We ended up trekking about 100 miles in the span of 11 days and had the adventure of a lifetime along the way.
However, the adventure wasn’t quite done yet. We still had a long way to go to get back to the capital city. We finished trekking and had the scariest jeep ride yet back to the place we were staying. Our driver was a little crazy to say the least and on top of that our contact said this was one of the craziest roads in the area. I found myself spending half the time in prayer just hoping we wouldn’t go toppling off a cliff with one wrong turn. I know many of you also have been praying for safe travels home. These prayers were much needed as we found out that we barely missed two earthquakes by a day. One had a 4.8 magnitude where we had eaten lunch the day before and the other had a 5.6 magnitude where we had just slept the night before. It was crazy waking up to the house shaking because of an earthquake for the first time in my life. It was even crazier to check where they happened and see that they had occurred where we had just been the day before! Feeling grateful for our safety, we just had one final journey back to the capital city, a 24-hour bus ride. While it wasn’t fun, we got through it, and we were happy to be done with bus rides.
Once back in the capital city, we still had more work to do. We did some ministry, but mainly spent the time debriefing, and celebrating everything God did on outreach. After a long weekend in capital city, it was time for us to catch our flight back to America. Now, after another 3 flights and a 28-hour travel day, I’m back in America! I’m spending one more week in Montana debriefing the entire DTS before going home. I’ll be home just in time for the holidays, which I’m very excited about. I’m looking forward to this next season of rest with family and being back home.
I plan to send one final update about a month from now with my final thoughts after I have some more time to process everything that happened. But in the meantime, please know my gratitude for all of you as always. Without your financial support, this calling of mine would have never come to fruition. Without your prayers, who knows what would have happened to me and my team throughout this crazy adventure. So for that, I’ll forever be appreciative of all of you.
Until Next Time,
Jacob Frenzen
