Dear Family, Friends, and Other Supporters,

With utmost appreciation for your past support and great excitement for what’s ahead, I would like to share what is next in my life. The last letter I wrote was after I had returned from Nepal last year. If you didn’t get a chance to read that letter, Nepal was quite an adventure and incredibly life-changing. The transition back home was somewhat difficult as I adjusted back to everyday life. I got a job and began working to fund my next venture, YWAM (Youth With A Mission)’s “Bridge School” in Colorado Springs. For me, the Bridge School was about trying to figure out what I want to do with my life after I had my Nepal experience.

The Bridge School just wrapped up a couple of weeks ago and it was amazing. I learned so much about my identity, authority, and how to have true intimacy with God. I helped start a homeless food ministry that we ran for a few weeks. My friends and I partnered with a local gas station to hand out food that had just been taken off the shelf late at night which was our open door to evangelism. Through this ministry, I got to see two people give their lives to Christ and one person’s arm get healed. Besides that, we went on a road trip as a school to Kansas City to attend a missions conference and to Topeka, Kansas, where we held a revival worship night which was really powerful. I got the opportunity to intern with our BAM (Business As Mission) team in Colorado Springs. I worked with an organization called Kairos Traders which partners with several businesses in Southeast Asia that help fight human trafficking. I had a blast meeting new friends, getting to live in a new area, and exploring more of Colorado.

However, the biggest thing that happened to me while I was in the Bridge School was God giving me direction on what is next. From very early on I noticed these two younger guys who were new to YWAM, didn’t really have any friends besides each other, so I started to befriend them. This intentional friendship led to a very cool relationship. My friend and I would try to get lunch with these boys at least once a week, talk to them about life, and try to invest in them the best we could. As we poured into them, we got to see how they listened to our leadership and applied changes to the things we talked about. By the end, we were really close and they told us how much our relationship meant to them.

I say all of this to describe what started to happen in my heart during this time. As my relationship grew with these boys, I began to see what it looks like to disciple someone. I obviously have a lot more growth ahead in my own spiritual journey, but the Lord really gave me a heart for discipleship and teaching others what he has taught me so far. I recognize that I have been incredibly blessed in my life and I believe I am blessed to be a blessing to others. I have a growing heart for young people in the Western Church who are just like I was, living in two separate worlds when it comes to their faith, and know that this can’t be all there is to Christianity. For me that all changed when I came to YWAM and started to see what it looks like for me to live for Jesus. Now, I have a passion for seeing people set on fire for Jesus.

So if you haven’t guessed it already, I plan to join staff at YWAM Colorado Springs. Starting out, I will be working in the DTS (Discipleship Training School) Department. For those who are unfamiliar, DTS consists of a 3-month lecture phase of learning about God, a better understanding of the Bible, and how to share the Gospel. Then, after training in the lecture phase, there’s a 2-3 month outreach somewhere overseas to make God known. DTS radically changed my life, and I want to be a part of that transformation for others. As a leader, I will be walking with students through this season of life, discipling them to look more like Jesus, and leading mission trips around the world.

Walking alongside students in this season looks like not only attending lectures, but outside of class doing life with them. It is not uncommon for staff to spend 50, 60, or even 70 hours a week with students. For the outreach phase, I will have the privilege of leading teams on mission trips to nations in the 10/40 window. I will be participating in everything from the months of planning on the front end to the actual execution of the trip itself leading these students in ministry. Because of the nature of what it takes to plan these trips, and do life with these students, we are not released to have outside jobs to support our mission.

As YWAM staff, we are not paid a salary, but instead have the privilege of raising our own financial support. It is a privilege because I truly do believe that getting to partner with people in this ministry whether through prayer or finances is truly such a blessing to both myself and my supporters. Many of you have already been incredibly generous in supporting my trip to Nepal. I don’t want that to go unsaid because I am so appreciative of what you all have done to get me to this point. This next step will require a continued level of generosity from those who feel called to give and the Lord’s provision as I seek to raise monthly support for this ministry.

I will be going back to Colorado Springs to start staffing in late August, so I need to raise my monthly support before then. While short-term I will be staffing DTS and leading mission trips to the nations, long-term I see myself starting a BAM (Business As Mission) overseas, potentially back in Nepal. While that is my current vision, I am open to wherever else God may lead me. With that said, my question for you is, would you consider praying about partnering with me monthly for the foreseeable future to make this vision a reality?

I would love to have a conversation with you, whether in-person or over the phone, and answer any questions you may have. I believe this conversation will help determine how we can partner together to glorify God’s Kingdom through this ministry. I will be in touch within the next few weeks, but if I’m not, feel free to reach me at 970-488-9235. Whatever the outcome may be, again I would like to thank you for your generosity and support to this point. I truly can’t do this without you, so please know how grateful I am, and how I will forever remember what you’ve done.

Sincerely,

Jacob Frenzen

Me speaking at the Revival Worship Night in Topeka, KS

“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen” (Ephesians 3:20-21 ESV).
